Happy 5 months, Reid!

Happy 5 months, sweet baby boy! I can't believe it has already been 5 months. You bring so much joy to our little family, and everyone else around you. The moment you lock eyes with a person, you smile so big. You're a very happy baby when you're in someone's arms. You let anyone hold you at this point; no crying with unfamiliar faces. Yet. I believe Parker started around 6 months old.

Speaking of your brother... You adore him. You watch every move he makes. He can get you laughing probably just as much as Mommy and Daddy can, if not more. There's this thing Daddy and Parker do that get you going every time. They stand in front of you with their back towards you, and quickly turn/jump around to face you as they say "boo" or "hey". All of it makes you laugh. From time to time Parker seems to be a little rough, and as I correct it, you're all giggles. That's when I let Parker continue on. One day you both are going to be inseparable, and I can't wait until you start playing together.

You're still on baby Zantac for reflux, but I think it's getting a lot better. I wish you'd grow out of it soon so you're not so uncomfortable at times. Heartburn just isn't fun. You don't sleep for long periods of time during the day, but you have been so good to mommy at nights. Since 8 weeks old you have been giving mommy 7-8 hour stretches, and recently you have been giving mommy more like 9-11 hour stretches. I can't complain about naps when you're doing so well at night.

You rolled over for the first time in May. Twice. Since then you haven't done it, that I'm aware of. However, you do like to go from side to side on your own as you reach and grab for toys. You enjoy being on your belly and in your bumbo seat, but not for a long period of time. You enjoy laying on your
back as you grab and hold your feet. You're pretty intrigued by them, as well as your hands. You love putting your fingers in your mouth, and just about anything else that you can get in there. You've been caught sucking your thumb a number of times, but we hope it was by mistake and not because you have learned to love it.

There's no evidence of teeth, but you've seemed to be chomping on anything and everything for quite some time. Since 3 months old. I thought you were teething then. Dr. O'Reilly says it isn't necessarily teething, but that you were ready for solids. She gave us the go ahead at your 4 month check up.

Your first solids were organic avocados, but you had no reaction to them. If anything, you seemed uninterested in solids. I tried a second time the next day, and still no reaction. I know avocados taste pretty bland in comparison to other baby foods, so I tried sweet peas about a week later. Unlike avocados, we got a reaction, but not because you liked it. I tried at least 3 more times, and moved on to the good stuff: sweet potatoes. These, by far, are your favorite.

You don't like your car seat. In fact, you have never liked your car seat. It makes traveling a little more stressful than it needs to be, but we manage to get places. When Mommy and Daddy are together, mommy rides in the back between you and Parker. When it's just mommy and Parker, we let you cry it out until we get where we are going. You are getting so much better than you use to be. You don't get nearly as upset, but I do try to limit the time you're in it.

You're a big boy, and growing way too fast. Mommy, Daddy and Parker adore and love you so much!
